Yeah so I saw the trailer a while back and it looked interesting but also like some kind of Alien-clone and I made a comment along the lines of ‘why does it always have to be about aliens killing us? – why can’t it just be about the wonder of discovery?, etc”
Well – I’ve watched the movie now and I can say that while it does share some elements with Ridley Scott’s seminal movie it also manages to convey the wonder of discovery along with the claustrophobic atmosphere and interpersonal tensions which would be the reality of such an unprecedented mission.
The movie tells the story in a series of flashbacks – assembled from ‘recovered footage’ of a mission to Jupiter’s moon Europa to search for life beneath the ice of the satellite – a type of mission which has actually been proposed in reality.
